Survey Reveals: Cambodia's 7th-Mandate Royal Government Secures 82% Public Trust in Just Five Months

Phnom Penh, April 1, 2024 – In a display of public confidence, the 7th-mandate Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) has earned an impressive 82% trust rating from its citizens within the first five months of taking office. This surge in trust not only cements the government's popularity but also marks an increase in the people's faith in their leadership, according to a recent international survey.

The survey's results were announced this morning by Neth Pheaktra, the Minister of Information, during a meeting aimed at discussing the RGC's progress and setting new objectives with the ministry's top officials.

Pheaktra highlighted that this current approval rating represents a significant jump from the 77% recorded in May 2023, under the previous administration. He attributed this positive shift to the strategic and effective implementation of the Pentagonal Strategy by the current government.

Contrary to predictions by opposition groups that the new government would struggle to maintain its popularity amidst global economic challenges and lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, these findings suggest a robust resilience and approval among the populace.

During the meeting, Pheaktra also took the opportunity to outline the advancements and developments under the 7th-mandate RGC. He detailed the government's approach, focusing on a variety of strategies ranging from short to long term. These include the strengthening of institutions and the modernization of administration, enhancement of the legal framework and professional accountability, development of human resources and vocational training, establishment of an information space management system, and fostering inclusive and efficient partnerships.

This survey's findings not only counteract earlier skepticism but also illuminate the path of progress and stability the Royal Government of Cambodia is navigating, promising a future where the government and its people move forward together, hand in hand.
